Home school has been in its current form for almost 40 years, is gaining popularity and is legal in all 50 states. But is it still murdered in controversy. Unfortunately, home issues about home school are caused by both ignorance and self-interest rates of some groups. Talk to parents who are home teachers of your children and you will hear stories of sarcasm, review, criticism and even social stigma for both parents and children. The school system and the parents of teachers who believe that homework is in harmony with them are active in their criticism.
Unfortunately, not only schools and PTA are crossing school. Family, friends and neighbors fly into their opinions and since most of the home school is something they have never experienced and have no knowledge of, the counseling given to parents is almost always negative. People have become conditional on connecting schools – buildings, workshops, laboratories and gyms – with education. They believe that without formal physical structure can not be education. They can not understand that education is a process of transfer and gaining knowledge, and physical structures only support the process and do not control it. They believe that home schools will be transferred to what should be given to them. In the most serious cases, the children are even discriminated against by playing and social activities.
Another area of controversial home school is the fact that home school means that one parent gives up work and income from being at home and teaching. The reason here is that supplementary income would improve family living standards and allow children to go to "good" schools and get "proper" education.
One area of genuine concern that many have is that the grandchildren are divorced from their peers and will grow up lacking the social skills needed to survive in our modern world or even just to be able to attend university. This is true, but, to a large extent, an understanding of what home school is, why parents have made this choice and support in order to encourage social relations between children in primary and local communities.
Another cause of the local community is the question of foreign trade – dramatics, sports, academic competitions and so on. This is one area where the concern is based at least to some extent. Although some laws stipulate that a home school should be allowed to participate in all municipal school activities, other states need to go to school to participate. Whether the law is, the fact is that home school will not be a member of a sports school at school, acting in plays and many other things that a regular school provides. Home school also has less chance at a normal level of education, which is very much apart from growing up. Support groups can help to overcome this problem to some extent.
Finally, it is for parents to offset and fail home school and make their own decision. Home school is not a perfect solution, but if the community would stop finding reasons for home school and instead find a way to support families who have chosen a home school, nobody would lose.
